AGRO-FORESTRY
In Costa Rica, biological corridor projects span the rural landscape. Implementation of biological corridors can be a challenge as traditional monoculture farming does not generally mix well with forest conservation efforts. When designed and implemented well, agro-forestry and silvo-pastoral projects can help to capture atmospheric carbon and keep valuable land in agricultural production, which is important for local food security and for maintaining strong rural communities. Farmers implementing agro-forestry and silvo-pastoral projects are engaged as part of the climate solution.
ALAP is seeking university partners to develop agro-forestry carbon offset projects together with several of our NGO partners.
